| Overview
“Short Trek to the snowfield”
A little town placed in the lap of the Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Located about 150 km from Delhi, this campsite can be easily traversed via road and rail. At an altitude of 9280 ft. you’re to find yourself in the midst of the tall Garhwali Mountains like Mt Bandarpoonch, Mt Srikanth, the Gangotri massif, Mt Nanda Ghunti, and even Mt Nanda Devi.
The way through the woods to the Deoban campsite is what makes it more special and beautiful.
You’ll be welcomed by a host of Deodar trees that make up for beautiful forests on the trail, and this is how this small town gets its name. The winters are pretty cold with snow and this trek falls under the easy-moderate trek. Bare the cold and be delighted as you take up the ascent to this campsite. Worth every bit of it!
| Best time to visit:-
Summer: Deoban Trek is best during the summer season from April to mid-June. The calm and pleasant summer sun and evening make the trek more pleasant.
Monsoon: In monsoon, the trek route is muddy and slippery. It is better to avoid risky places trekking in this season.
Spring: The spring month from mid-September to early November is considered the best time to trek Deoban Trek. Trekking is fun with lush greenery all around and calm weather.
Winter: Deoban Trek is wonderful to experience in winter because you get snow-covered forest and mesmerizing camping sight.
| Itinerary:
Day 1: Dehradun to Saraswati via Lokhandi
- Drive Duration: 4 hours, Drive Distance: 90 km
- Trek distance: 3.5 km, Trek Duration: 2 hours
- Altitude: 5150 ft
Highlight:
- The road to Lokhandi passes through the mountain towns of Chakarata and Sahiya, which are breathtakingly beautiful. Once we reach Lokhandi, we start the trek at noon and the distance covered on the first day is only 3 km. The trail starts on the route to Koti Kanasar which leads to the tree area which is a mixture of Deodar and Pine.
- As we climb 500m, the forest thickens and it’s a bit exciting as we pass through a narrow pass on the edge of the mountain. Now we can expect the climb to be a bit easy as the terrain flattens out. It opens onto a beautiful green meadow where we can all relax and enjoy the fresh smell of grass.
- From there we head northeast, and as a pleasant surprise, the sun is always here. You may find some snow when trekking in the winter months.
- The ridge we will have to cross is approaching and the road is mostly full of mud, rocks and snow in winter. We have to climb for another hour and a half and then start descending along the line of Chaniya huts on the trail.
- We reach our camp for the night, Saraswati Camp, located 2.5 km from Lokhandi and covered with tall trees all around.
Day 2: Saraswati to Vyas Point and back to Koti Kanasar via Saraswati and Ride back to Dehradun
- Trek distance: 16 km, Trek Duration: 5 hours
- Drive Duration: 4 hours, Drive Distance: 110 km
- Altitude: 9,940 ft
Highlight:
- We plan to start the trek at 5 am as it is a long trek for the day. Make sure you have enough water for the journey as it is hard to find a water source on the way. The journey from now is a steep climb and we will keep jumping to several Shepherd’s Shelter which is surrounded by mixed pine and oak trees.
- The climb to Vyas Point is gradual and within 550m of the climb, you will have a beautiful view of the mountain on your left. Further down 1.25 km, you will find yourself near Jadi village on the right and a peaceful view of the Shivaliks on the left.
- As you move 200 meters ahead, say hello to the Great Himalayan mountain range which is sure to grab all your attention. The trail then joins the winding roads of Jadi village to the Forest Office, Vyas Point.
- Here is your last output of the day; 700m down the trail, turn left and continue for about 400m to reach Vyas Point. When you reach your destination, which is the end of the climb, you will be mesmerized by the view. Take the same route back to Saraswati where you will rest at noon and have lunch. We move down to Koti Kanasar and take ready cabs. We suggest reaching Dehradun by 8:00 PM.
| Deoban Trek Package
Inclusions:
- Accommodation – On the trek, you will live in tents/guesthouses on a sharing basis.
- Meals – Breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. We provide simple, nutritious vegetarian food for all days of the trek.
- Camping Fees – All trekking permits and forest camping fees are included in the price.
- Trekking equipment – Quality tents and sleeping bags in all camps. Sleeping bags withstand temperatures down to -10 ºC.
- Safety equipment – First aid kit, oximeter, etc. will be with the trek guide/leader and also at the camp to deal with emergencies.
- Expert Trek Leaders – All our trek leaders have at least basic/advanced mountaineering qualifications and a first aid course.
- Expert Trek Support Team – The mountain staff on this trek consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.
- Transfers – Transport from Dehradun to Lokhandi on Day 1st to Lokhandi to Dehradun on Day 2nd is included.
Exclusions:
- Food is purchased by individuals at local canteens on the trek or while driving.
- Any travel or accommodation costs for early return excluding days as per itinerary.
- Any cost of medical treatment for injuries or accidents before, during or after the trek.
- All cutlery (mugs, spoons, plates, snacks, etc.)

Confirmation Policy
- The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking.
- In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the customer’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email.
- Alternatively, the customer may choose to cancel their booking before confirmation and a full refund will be processed.
Refund Policy
- The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
- All applicable refunds will be credited to the client’s respective account.
Cancellation Policy
- In case of cancellation 15 days before the travel date, 15% of the total cost of the tour will be charged as cancellation fees
- In case of cancellation 7 days to 15 days before the travel date, 20% of the total cost of the tour will be charged as cancellation fees
- If canceled between 0 days and 7 days before the travel date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost of the tour as cancellation fees
