Trek of beautiful Landscape
Garhwal Himalayas is a famous tourist destination and people from different countries come here to explore it. There are many places where no one has set foot yet and many are explored. Kedartal is a high-altitude lake in the midst of high gigantic mountains in the Garhwal Himalayan region at an altitude of 4,912 m.
It is the source of “Kedar Ganga” and this is Lord Shiva’s contribution to the Bhagirathi River, so it is also known as “Shiva’s Lake”. Mount Thalay Sagar, Mount Meru, Mount Bhrigupanth; the snowfall above them feeds the Kedar Tal. The trek starts from the holy city of Gangotri, which is famous for pilgrimages and is one of the Char Dhams.
The trek to Kedartal varies from moderate to difficult as the trail takes you through steep climbs and landslide-prone areas, the trek to this exciting lake is an adventurous one. It takes a lot of energy to get there, but it’s worth all your efforts because no other feeling can match the pleasure of getting there.
This place was found by shepherds and not everyone can go on this trek, it is not for beginners at all; people with previous trekking experience must go for the experience of this exciting trail. The close-up views of the mountains from here are mesmerising and mostly missing from many treks. The mountains of Thalay Sagar, Meru, Bhrigunath, Gangotri and Manda Parvat welcome you with their majestic close-up views that leave visitors spellbound.
| Best time to visit:-
Summer: KedarTal trek is best during the summer season from April to mid-June. The calm and pleasant summer sun and evening make the trek more pleasant.
Monsoon: In monsoon, the trek route is muddy and slippery. It is better to avoid risky places trekking in this season.
Spring: The spring month from mid-September to early November is considered the best time to trek KedarTal. Trekking is fun with lush greenery all around and calm weather.
Winter: KedarTal trek will be closed in winter due to heavy snowfall and because of the highest difficulty. Don’t allow people to go there.
| Itinerary:
Day 1 : Dehradun to Gangotri
- Drive Distance: 238 km
- Drive Duration: 10-11 hours
- Altitude: 11,204 ft
Highlight:
- Our pick-up point is Rishikesh or Dehradun station, the journey there will take 10 to 12 hours maximum. Gangotri is a holy city, the temple is one of the Char Dhams and people from different places come here to visit this city.
- On your way you will see Tehri lake, the road is scenic along the banks of river Ganges and the views of the Great Himalayas and Harshil attract you, then drive through the enchanting green forest till Gangotri.
- In the evening, attend the “Ganga Aarti” crowd, because the artists there are very famous, they know the traditions of the people and their religious values, then return to the hotel for dinner and stay overnight there.
Day 2: Gangotri to Bhoj Kharak
- Trek distance: 8 km
- Trek Duration: 6 hours
- Altitude: 12,436 ft
Highlight:
- Start your trek from Gangotri and the climb today is steep till Bhoj Kharak there is very less descent, cross the Bhagirathi river bridge after crossing the bridge start climbing you will find loose stones on the way and the climb is steep so you may get tired take breaks and continue on your way.
- Then walk through the dense forest and the trees accompany you, there you can hear the sound of Kedar Ganga flowing below, it is the contribution of Lord Shiva to the river Bhagirathi. The steep path flattens out for a while and then becomes steep again, sometimes it is difficult to walk, you can rest and walk gradually.
- You will now cross two mountain walls which you can easily scale with the help of your guide and then reach Bhoj Kharak Camp. Bhoj Kharak is a campsite on the edge of a narrow road, this valley is not very big, you have to clear some area to pitch your tents, but camping on the mountains gives a huge feeling. Relax in the tents and enjoy a meal and a night in the tents.
Day 3: Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak
- Trek distance: 7 km
- Trek Duration: 6 hours
- Altitude: 14,456 ft
Highlight:
- Today it is a trek to the beautiful “Kedar kharak” meadow, colourful blooming flowers add beauty to the place and the view of Bhrigunath mountain welcomes you as you enter this enticing meadow.
- Today’s trek is a mixture of uphill and downhill, the climb is steeper and it gets gentler, here you can see the animals in the area, and hearing the chirping of the birds makes the walk more enjoyable as this place is rich in fauna so it is common to see animals here.
- As you go up you gain altitude and there you can see ice crystals and the weather gets cooler, now you are about to reach Kedar Kharak, a small meadow with beautiful blooming flowers. Don’t miss the breathtaking sunset from here, the view of mt. Bhrigunath retrieves from there.
Day 4: Kedar Kharak to Kedartal to Kedar Kharak
- Trek distance: 9 km
- Trek Duration: 6 hours
- Altitude: 16,160 ft
Highlight:
- Today is the main day of your trek as you will reach your destination today so have an early morning breakfast and leave for Kedartal. Kedartal is at an altitude of 16,160 ft, this place is divine and is also known as ‘Shiva’s Lake. The road to Kedartal is not easy and it takes a lot of strength to reach this point, there are only climbs and very few descents, the trail is not in very good condition, and there are stones on the way, so be careful while walking so that you don’t slip.
- As you go higher, the land becomes barren and there is no vegetation. Be prepared for weather changes, it can change to rain and snow at any time and it gets colder as you go higher.
- Next, you will reach a ridge from where you will be greeted by the peak of Thalay Sagar with magnificent views towering high among all the mountains as you cross this ridge now you are going to Kedartal.
- Thalay Sagar, which feeds Kedartal, captures these moments as you descend, and see all the peaks glittering there from afar. Now downhill back to our base Kedar Kharak.
Day 5: Kedar Kharak to Gangotri
- Trek distance: 15 km
- Trek Duration: 6 hours
- Altitude: 11,204 ft
Highlight:
- Today you will descend down to Gangotri, the hard part is done, we’re on our way home! While the distance to cover is a bit long, the trail to Gangotri is almost entirely downhill. The path is rocky and confusing, but the paths look similar so follow your guide and be careful while descending. At the end of the day, your reward is a soft warm bed in Gangotri and Ganga Aarti.
Day 6: Gangotri to Dehradun
- Drive Distance: 238 km
- Drive Duration: 10-11 hours
- Altitude: 2,099 ft
Highlight:
- Today you’ll say bye-bye to the mountains and drive back to Dehradun.

- Trekking equipment – Quality tents and sleeping bags in all camps. Sleeping bags withstand temperatures down to -10 ºC.
- Safety equipment – First aid kit, oximeter, etc. will be with the trek guide/leader and also at the camp to deal with emergencies
- Expert Trek Leaders – All our trek leaders have at least basic/advanced mountaineering qualifications and a first aid course.
- Expert Trek Support Team – The mountain staff on this trek consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.
- Transfers – Transport from Dehradun to Gangotri on Day 1st to Gangotri to Dehradun on Day 6th is included.

Confirmation Policy
- The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking.
- In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the customer’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email.
- Alternatively, the customer may choose to cancel their booking before confirmation and a full refund will be processed.
Refund Policy
- The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
- All applicable refunds will be credited to the client’s respective account.
Cancellation Policy
- In case of cancellation 15 days before the travel date, 15% of the total cost of the tour will be charged as cancellation fees
- In case of cancellation 7 days to 15 days before the travel date, 20% of the total cost of the tour will be charged as cancellation fees
- If canceled between 0 days and 7 days before the travel date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost of the tour as cancellation fees
